New Library Web Project

Submitted by Leo Klein on Sun, 5/25/08 (9:47pm)

I've got a neat job building a community site for one of the library organizations here. I'll talk more about it at our Drupal4Lib BoF in Anaheim but basically the idea is to promote online collaboration. Needless to say (for those in the know), I'll be making great use of Drupal's Organic Groups.

Praise for ChicagoLibrarian.com & LibSite.org from ProQuest

ProQuestBoth ChicagoLibrarian.com and LibSite.org get a wonderful write-up in a brochure from ProQuest:

Congressional Campaign Site: DebbieHalvorson.com

I'm still kind of knocked out -- been working 24/7 on this for several weeks. That said, I'm pleased to announce the availability online of DebbieHalvorson.com.

Debbie's running for Congress in the 11th CD of Illinois.

The site is fully automated using Drupal for content management. Campaign staff can add images to any content type (eg. press release, blog post, etc.) They can also designate any post as "spotlight" for the 'In Focus' section on the front page.

Big Web Project on the Horizon

Submitted by Leo Klein on Fri, 10/19/07 (3:41pm)

I'm gearing up for a humongous site development project at the moment. It's going to take a lot of work and since we're only at the initial stage, it's kind of chaotic as well.

Everything needs to be done yesterday!

LibSite.org to Be Featured in ProQuest Publication

Submitted by Leo Klein on Tue, 10/2/07 (6:02pm)

LibSite.org I just got word from Tina at ProQuest that they're going to use LibSite.org in one of their training publications as "a good example of library-related website design".

Needless to say, I was delighted to hear the news and look forward to receiving a copy of the final product!

Chicago Documentation Center

Here's a preview of something I've been working on. It's called the "Chicago Documentation Center" and it's going to be the home for various exhibits and digitization projects that I'll be doing.

The full name is "Chicago Documentation Center: Documenting the Life and Times of Chicago and the American Midwest".

The scope is pretty wide -- basically anything of historical or cultural value in the city of Chicago, the state of Illinois or the U.S. as a whole.

LibSite Tops 100 Library-Related Sites!

Submitted by Leo Klein on Wed, 7/25/07 (11:55am)

It dawned on me while going over the latest websites listed on LibSite.org, that we're reached and passed the 100 mark!

I've got more on this on the LibSite Blog, but basically, I'm particularly proud of the quality and scope of the sites listed.

I'd like to thank everyone who's contributed so far -- please keep it coming!

Update on Redesign of LeoKlein.com

Well, this is taking me a hundred years.

I'm happy to say that I'm at the stage where I've developed the comps and cut the graphics in a layout that's remarkably consistent from IE7 and FF2.0 to my mother's ancient version of IE5 on her equally ancient iMac.

I've got a little more graphics work to do on 2nd tier pages -- plus I have to put together the portfolio gizmo (powered by Javascript). If I can get this all done by July, all I can say is hallelujah!

Library Websites by Google Map on LibSite.org

Social Mapping has come to LibSite.org! All library websites listed on LibSite.org will be laid out according to location using a modified version of Google Maps.

You can see the map by going here...

Not all sites have been converted and the mapping still needs a bit of work, but the basic function is up and running.

libSite: One Month Birthday!

Submitted by Leo Klein on Fri, 5/11/07 (10:07pm)

I can remember it as if it were only last month... Actually it was last month, April 10 to be precise, when I announced to the world that LibSite was open and ready for business.
